Take a look at the sidebar menu and you’ll see one called “DFP Purity Groups.” These are men’s purity groups that we have worked with and/or helped established. They are under a local church, they have trained leadership addressing men’s purity issues, and they follow an established curriculum. We stay in contact with DFP groups and seek to be a resource for them as they minister to men. DFP groups follow a specific format in their meetings that we have found to be the most effective in dealing with sexual sin. Basically, they’re one of us, “fellow-soldiers” as Paul describes Epaphroditus (Philippians 2:25).
There is also a tab called “Men’s Purity Groups”. These are others that work in the area of purity. While we may not embrace all their methods or philosophies of ministry, they are Christ-centered groups that seek to help men deal with sexual sin. Some of them might have a specific niche (i.e. prison ministries, GLTB, prostitution). They follow their own program and curriculum, sometimes operate under a denominational tag or some are more correctly labeled “para–church” groups. Their approach might also emphasize psychological tools and models. Those listed are “fellow-workers” (Philippians 2:25); not in the same foxhole with us, but in the battle. We provide their contact details because: 1) we believe them to be groups that are biblically based. 2) there may not yet be a DFP group in your area, 3) their specificity might appeal to you, and 4) we don’t own the cornerstone on Truth. Their approach might be the one that is most effective for you.
Just one additional note: Some Men’s Purity Groups focus on helping the “average guy” stock his spiritual arsenal with weapons to deal with the sexual temptations we face as men. That’s an important ministry. We find ourselves dealing with men who are in the grips of habitual, sexual sin. If that’s you, it is likely you need something more…you’ve already leaped over the wall.
Finally, there is also a tab called Purity Ministries. Some of these may also have group meetings or resources that you might find helpful. These are brothers in Christ who we know largely by reputation. In some cases, we may have rubbed shoulders with them at conferences and seminars.
Please note: There ARE secular organizations out there. We are biblically based and list only those who can embrace our statement of faith. We believe that genuine change is the result of a heart altered by the power of God, who has made us into new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). As we learn to live a life crucified, we will live in power over the flesh to the glory of God (Galatians 2:20)
If we have mistakenly listed a group that you believe should NOT be listed, please let us know. At the same time, if there is someone not listed that should be, please forward their details. We’d like our resources to be as complete and accurate as possible.
